Product Review: Kinky-Curly Knot Today Natural Leave In / Detangler

Hey guys! How has your long weekend been? I've been having a good weekend so far and I'm looking forward to resting even more today and tomorrow.

I  heard a lot about this conditioner when I first went natural but I was never tempted to try it because of the price. Then, when I was trying to find protein free leave in conditioner my friend recommended this. I didn't even care about the price anymore because it's so hard to find conditioners with no coconut oil or any form of protein.

Now that I'm more than halfway through the bottle, it's time for a review :D

INGREDIENTS

Organic mango fruit extract, organic slippery elm, organic marshmallow root, organic lemongrass, cetyl alcohol, behentrimonium methosulfate, citric acid, phenoxyethanol and natural fragrance.

*Behentrimonium methosulfate is not a sulfate but a mild detangler derived from rapeseed.

DIRECTIONS

THICK COARSE CURLS: Use a generous amount as a leave in and completely detangle hair before applying any Kinky-Curly styling product.

LOOSE WAVY CURLS: Use a moderate amount as a rinse out or leave a little on the ends before applying Kinky-Curly Styling products.

HOW I USE IT

The first time I used it was after washing my hair with Rhassoul clay for the first time. I had read online that the best way to use it is on wet or damp hair so, I mixed it with a little glycerine and used it on very damp hair. After applying it on each section, I sealed with castor oil and very little shea butter and twisted.

I used it pretty much the same way the next few times and I also used it on my blow dried hair the night before getting my braids done. This time though, I didn't wet my hair or use glycerine because I didn't want my hair to shrink.

I noticed that it works better on freshly washed hair and not during the week when you have other products in your hair.

PRODUCT CLAIMS

"Can't get that comb to glide through your hair? Well KNOT TODAY! This creamy herbal conditioner is enriched with botanical extracts and is designed to smooth the cuticle and remove knots, snarls and tangles from thick curly hair". (From the bottle)

Does it do what it claims to do? YES!! You cannot imagine how happy I felt the first time I used this conditioner. It felt like my hair just melted (in a good way). I guess this is what they mean by 'smooth the cuticle'.

The first time I used it, I was hoping it wouldn't be one of those products that moisturise your hair for a day and then you have to keep re-moisturising the whole week. I'm happy to say I didn't have this problem and my hair stayed moisturised for a few days.

Another thing I love about the product is the smell. It has a lovely citrusy fragrance. It's also not watery or overly thick and a little goes a long way.

This leave in conditioner is definitely the best I've tried this year. The only  issue I have with it is the price for the size of the bottle. Nevertheless, I would still repurchase because of how well it works. It might not work the same way for you but it works really well on my thick, dense hair.
