My Hair Journey

I went natural on the 31st of May 2012. I had made the decision to go natural about a month before this but I had exams and I decided to wait till I was done with exams. I had been toying with the idea for a few months but I gave myself excuses like I wasn't ready to give up weaves or I would just cover it up with braids or weaves so what was the point.

A few months later I became more comfortable with the idea of going back to having natural hair.
The day I finished my exams my friend helped me cut off my relaxed ends after transitioning for about 4 months.

I was actually really excited about cutting my hair. I thought I might hate how I looked and I would wear a wig till my hair was long enough for braids but i actually loved it.

I went to the barbers in July to trim off my relaxed ends and to even out the different lengths but he ended up cutting off most of my hair. I wasn't even upset I was just like it'll grow back.

5 months post big chop

This was 8 months after I cut my hair. I was so happy I could put my hair into a mini puff :)

I tried a lot of products that didn't work for me during my first year of being natural and it took a while to figure out what products and a regimen that would work for me.

1 year 4 months

2 years and 3 months

I've made quite a few mistakes along the way but I've learnt a lot about my hair over the past 2 years. I'm enjoying having natural hair and haven't regretted it for a day.

Thanks for reading :)
